The Jets did not get even get to training camp before getting some bad injury news.

Safety Chuck Clark, whom the team acquired in a March trade with the Ravens, suffered what the Jets fear is a serious knee injury, according to a source.

Clark is getting a second opinion on the injury, but the Jets are worried enough about the injury that they signed veteran safety Adrian Amos on Tuesday.

The Jets sent a seventh-round pick to Baltimore for Clark, who had been starting all spring alongside Jordan Whitehead.

Part of the appeal for the Jets was Clark’s durability. He had played 1,248 consecutive defensive snaps dating back to 2021.

Now, it looks like his 2023 season could be in jeopardy.

With Clark potentially out for a while, the Jets agreed to a deal with Amos, the former Packers safety. Amos, 30, spent the past four seasons in Green Bay and becomes the latest of Aaron Rodgers’ former teammates to join him with the Jets.

Reports indicated his contract was not a big one — a reported one-year deal worth up to $4 million. Amos will now slide into Clark’s role alongside Whitehead in the secondary. Amos has started every game since the 2018 season when he was with the Bears.

The Jets also have Tony Adams, Ashtyn Davis and rookies Jarrick Bernard-Converse and Trey Dean at safety.

“The safety group, I’m excited about it,” defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich said this spring, “and I don’t think you can lose [Tony Adams] and some of the other guys that we have in that room. It’s going to be a great competition for those two spots.”

One of the storylines around the Jets since it became clear they were trading for Rodgers has been the players he wanted to join him with the Jets from Green Bay.

The Jets have signed former Packers wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb as well as offensive tackle Billy Turner this offseason.

Amos was drafted by the Bears in the fifth round in 2015, a pick the Bears acquired from the Jets in a trade for Brandon Marshall.

He spent four seasons in Chicago before signing with the Packers in 2019. He has 10 career interceptions and 48 passes defensed.
